The Situation
Anniston Army Depot’s combat and tactical vehicle production mission requires maintenance personnel and material support within an active industrial environment. The depot supplements its government workforce with contractor personnel who work onsite using the same facilities and equipment as the civilian workforce.
Gemini Tech Services (GTS) supports this mission under a subcontract to Amentum. The assignment combines heavy equipment maintenance, automotive painting, and material coordination to support the depot’s production requirements.
Our Approach
Heavy equipment maintenance. The contracted mechanic role covers diagnosing malfunctions, inspecting components for damage or wear, dismantling and reassembling equipment, and replacing defective components. Testing overhauled equipment forms part of the work required to verify operating condition.
Automotive painting. Painting work includes removing existing coatings, preparing surfaces, masking areas that do not require paint, and applying specified finishes. These tasks support the finishing stage of equipment maintenance and overhaul.
Material coordination. Material coordinators support technical supply functions, including inventory, storage management, cataloging, and property utilization. Their assigned duties support the material requirements associated with depot operations.
GTS’s subcontract requires qualified personnel, compliance with applicable depot procedures, and an inspection system with records available for review by Amentum and the government. The staffing arrangement also accommodates changes in depot workload and shift schedules.
Mission Contribution
The project brings maintenance, finishing, and material support personnel into the depot’s production environment. Together, these functions support the Army’s work to maintain and restore combat and tactical equipment, connecting repair activities with the materials and finishing work needed to support production.
